If you want to travel around Puerto Limon and prefer to stay closer to the main town, this excursion is a great option.
Meet with an experienced guide who will be waiting for you at the entrance of the terminal. You will hear facts and information about the city from your guide.
Right after, experience a boat trip along the Tortuguero Canal during one hour. Monkeys, sloths, iguanas, tropical birds, are just some of the animals you could see in the rainforest!

Next stop is Playa Bonita (which means “beautiful beach”), a pretty bay/beach surrounded by restaurants that offer typical food. If the weather is nice and your guide deems it’s safe, you can enjoy yourself and get into the sea, so be prepared!
Back on the road, you will be taken to a scenic viewpoint to observe most of Puerto Limon’s town. Continuing the route, you will visit the Fruit Stand to take a look at several delicious tropical fruits and taste them as well!
In the center of the city, you will also visit a supermarket which offers coffee and other products you can buy if you wish.
Finally, it’s time to get back to the cruise ship terminal. Your guide and driver will make sure you’re there in time, so just relax and enjoy the trip!
Departure
We’ll pick you up early in the morning, usually between 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM (local time) at the entrance of the Terminal in Limon. Keep in mind that this also depends on the time of arrival of your cruise ship.
Scenic view
Get a magnificent view of Puerto Limon’s town from a panoramic viewpoint, a great opportunity to take a picture of the city and the ship docks.
Tortuguero Canal Boat Ride
Enjoy 1 hour of travelling across the Tortuguero Canals in a covered boat, with a tour guide that will search for animals and give you information about them.
Playa Bonita (beach)
Stop by a beautiful bay and a nice white sand beach, and take the chance to enjoy the waters.
Fruit Stand
You will be able to enjoy delicious tropical fruit at a rustic Fruit Stand.
Banana Plantation
Stop by the side of the road to see the banana plantation and learn more about the actual process of growing the land and shipping the product to other countries.
The Supermarket
If time allows and you wish to, take a look at the products you can find in a popular supermarket in the city of Limon, where you can purchase some Costa Rican coffee and more.
Return
Back to the Cruise Ship Terminal. Your guide and driver will make sure you are back in time.

My wife and I, along with my 13 year old son took this tour with Federico. He was very knowledgeable of the history and facts about Limon and Costa Rica as well. He also shared his personal experiences which we found very interesting. We had a fantastic time and found a new friend. We took in the river eco-tour along with stops at the beach for lunch, banana plantation, and he also took us downtown to do some light shopping. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Limon, Costa Rica.
Wonderful impression of the city of Limon. Dani our guide and Eric our driver were excellent. Met us promptly at the area designated on our voucher and as luck would have it, we were the only two passengers, so our tour was very personalized. Enjoyed learning about the city and it’s diverse population, stopping for a fruit break at a delightful local fruit stand, learning about the large banana business and seeing the plants on the plantation, taking a canal boat trip with a veteran driver, Joseph, who had eyes like an eagle and could spot anything that moved. Our van driver, Eric, also saw several sloths along the roads and stopped so that we could just watch them or take a few pictures. Our beach stop was short but nice, which we appreciated because we had not brought beach gear with us and it was rather busy as this was the week of spring break for the locals. We could have lingered if we had wanted to. I especially enjoyed learning about the city and it’s many neighborhoods and history. I would recommend this tour to anyone who doesn’t need risky adventures to enjoy their vacation.

Larry was awesome, knowledgeable and entertaining. Best excursion during our Panama Canal cruise. Worked well with the adults as well as the one young man in our group. If your not sure what to do in Limon, do this.
Our group of 9 ladies had a fabulous, entertaining, educational and fun-filled day with Larry as our awesome guide and Giovanni as our awesome bus driver! All correspondence with Federico was quick, complete and professional. He was patient with all my questions and provided precise instructions with a map for meeting in the port area. The well organized tour featured the highlights of the the Limon area and included a lovely visit to a fruit stand where we were given free samples and had the opportunity to purchase local produce, food, drinks, and coffee to take home for souvenirs. We also walked through a lovely banana plantation, saw monkeys, sloths and a wide variety of birds on the Tortuguero Canal. Our boat driver and Larry were great at spotting wildlife and maneuvered the boat so that all could have a good view and take photos. We also enjoyed a stop at Playa Bonita where we enjoyed mojitos, margaritas and local beers. Some took a brief swim but most just walked along the lovely beach. We had frequent rest stops and several opportunities for brief souvenir shopping. It was a perfect day in lovely Limon thanks to our Guide Larry who made sure everyone was safe and had a good time. Larry was everything we like to see in a guide: informative, entertaining, attentive and well organized. And as an added bonus he was funny and he could sing! Relax Tour was amazing. Larry was our tour guide showing all of Costa Rica. Our 7 hours tour was great. From banana plantation to fruit stand. Water boat on the canal showing us a close-up views of sloths and taking pics with our camera. Then off the beach to get something to drink and eat . Then stopped at a hotel with murals. We even stopped at a pharmacy to get a passenger some needed meds. Highly recommend this tour. Frederic was great getting right back to us when we lost the time and meeting place for our tour.
